Let Dog Owner Coach be your guide

Margie Hillenbrand's philosophy of "Calm, Clear, Consistent," will help give you the skills, understanding, and resources you need to cultivate well-mannered, confident canine companions. Focus is given to the foundation of getting your dog's attention and building from there. Classes are limited to a maximum of 5 dogs (minimum of 3) to offer participants a level of individualized instruction and allows shy, fearful, or insecure dogs to go at their own pace, building confidence, and developing a positive experience.

We encourage well-behaved children and other family members to participate in class - training your dog should be a family affair!

Weeks 1-6: Wednesday July 11th @ 7:15pm

Pup-N-Parent Play Workshop

For puppies 10 weeks to 14 weeks old. $80 for the 6 week session.

1st class is a one hour orientation without dogs. Margie Hillenbrand, Dog Owner Coach, and Olua James-Daniel, from No Barks About It Dog Daycare will talk about the many factors that affect play and dog-dog interactions, factors that affect fear, and the role pet parents play to keep everybody safe and relaxed when dogs play.

Weeks 2-6 we will place you and you dog in either the 7:15 play group or the 7:45 play group. This placement is subject to change - at our discretion. We want to set up the groups to help your puppy succeed by matching age, size, play style and temperament. Each play group will last about 30 minutes giving puppies opportunity to play with breaks, discussing what we see, helping owners learn to see and respond appropriately.

You will need proof from your vet that your puppy is healthy and on schedule with age-appropriate vaccinations. You may NOT bring a puppy with runny eyes, coughing, vomiting, or diarrhea. Please let us know if your puppy is on medication that might affect behavior.

Bring puppy on a puppy-appropriate flat collar, or harness and leash. Bring treats. Bring a familiar towel, blanket, or mat for your dog, and a chew toy.

Puppy Obedience - Level 2

Puppies aged 6 months and under, can always learn something new but they're still puppies. If you've completed a Puppy class with us and your dog is still 6 months or younger, we encourage you to take another Puppy Obedience Level 1. Puppies will still be able to interact with the other puppies in Puppy class but generally not in the other classes. You will still have the benefit of practicing skills around a new set of dogs and people, maybe different children. If your puppy has aced the basics, Margie will give you and your puppy Canine Good Citizen and/or Beyond Basic skills to build on your basic skills.

If you have an almost adolescent 6-7 month puppy, puppy is eligible for Canine Good Citizen, Beyond Basic or Rally and Agility for Fun and Confidence (new skills, more moving exercises, less leash, less food.)
